Beirut 05: Valles leads after getting a walkover

In a strange flow of events, French IM Manuel Valles (2386) shot into sole lead at the Beirut International Tournament after getting a walkover as GM Sergey Kasparov (2475) did not turn up.

The top seed Dutch GM Sergey Tiviakov drew with Russian GM Sergey Volkov (2589) to slip to joint second place.

Beirut 03: Tiviakov top seed; Nine lead

The 8th Beirut International Open 2015 began with Dutch GM Sergey Tiviakov (2611) as the top seed. Nine players share the lead with a perfect 3.0/3.

Already in the fourth round, crucial clashes have been scheduled to take place with GM Tiviakov taking on Armenian GM Tigran Kotanjian (2495).

Bundesliga 03: OSG Baden-Baden start favourites, lead with 3.0/3

OSG Baden-Baden began the 2015 Bundesliga by taking a clear lead after winning their first three matches. The team is headed by Indian ace GM Vishwanathan Anand and has GM Levon Aronian at the second board.

With the season just beginning, many teams are yet to start their campaigns. However, the strongest chess league in the world promises to be a cracker of an affair as the season progresses.

Russian Chess Superfinals 04: Artemiev and Tomashevsky lead

GM Vladislav Artemiev (2671) and GM Evgeney Tomashevsky (2747) lead the Russian Chess Superfinals with 3.0/4. Both have won two games apiece and drawn the remaining two.

Following them close by are GM Nikita Vitiugov (2719) and GM Sergey Karjakin (2753) at 2.5/4.

Hogeschool Zeeland 09: Jobava wins with 8.0/9

Georgian GM Baadur Jobava (2664) won in style to finish clear first with 8.0/9. He had only two draws in the tournament, winning the remaining games to win by a half point margin.

Among the Indians, IM Prasanna Rao (2424) won his final round game to finish at 7.0/9, while IM Arghyadip Das (2485) drew with IM Somak Palit (2346) and GM Ankit Rajpara (2460) too drew his game to move to 6.5/9.

Kavala Chess 07: Tiviakov leads with 6.0/7

Dutch GM Sergei Tiviakov (2611) leads the tournament with 6.0/7 by half a point. IM Diptayan Ghosh (2531) drew with two Grandmasters to move to 5.0/7.

IM N. Srinath (2476) drew his seventh round game with a player rated lower than him to move to 4.5/7, while IM Sayantan Das (2444) lost to a Grandmaster to be left stranded at 4.0/7.

Kavala Chess 05: Srinath and Das lose to higher rateds

IM N. Srinath (2476) and IM Syantan Das (2444) suffered defeat in the hands of players rated over 2600 to be left behind at 3.0/5. Two players are in lead currently with 4.5/5.

IM Diptayan Ghoash (2531) came back strongly after his shock defeat in the second round to register his third straight victory to move to 4.0/5.

Gerogian GM Baadur Jobava (2664) won his penultimate round encounter at the top board to enter sole lead going into the final round with 7.0/8..

GM Ankit Rajpara (2460) lost his sixth round game to be stranded at 4.5/6 while three players raced away to joint lead with 5.5/6.

IM Prasanna Rao (2424) has made an admirable comeback to stand at 5.0/6 while Yogesh Gautam (2207) slipped up to lose and remains stuck at 3.5/6. WIM Parnali Dharia (1978) also failed to win to remain at 3.0/6.
