Sant Marti 05: Kidambi and Petrosyan lead

GM Sundararajan Kidambi (2433) beat compatriot IM Swapnil Dhopade (2454) with the black pieces. He moved into joint lead with IM Tigran Petrosyan (2441) at 5.0/5.

IM Shardul Gagare (2425) managed to beat IM Diptayan Ghosh (2523) with the black pieces to move to joint second spot with untitled Indian Prantik Roy (2292). Both moved to 4.5/5.

Sant Marti 04: Kidambi and Dhopade among leaders

GM Sundararajan Kidambi (2433) and IM Swapnil Dhopade (2453) are having a fruitful run at the Sant Marti International Open, 2015. They now share the lead with Armenian IM Tigran Petrosyan (2441) at 4.0/4.

Among a host of Indians tied at the second spot, GM Shyam Sundar M. (2492), IM Diptayan Ghosh (2523), IM Shardul Gagare (2425), IM Sayantan Das (2444) and Prantik Roy (2292) managed to win their respective games to move to 3.5/4.

Sant Marti 03: Six players lead with 3.0/3

Six players are leading the Sant Marti International Tournament with a perfect score of 3.0/3. The star of the round was undoubtedly Indian GM Sundararajan Kidambi (2433) who managed to upstage the top seed GM Karen Grigoryan (2580) with the white pieces to share the lead.

IM Swapnil Dhopade (2453) also won his game to move into shared lead. In another upset loss, IM MS Thejkumar (2467) slumped to his second straight loss, this time to WIM Ivana Maria Furtado (2236).

Barcelona 02: Satyapragyan holds the second seed

IM Swayangsu Satyapragyan (2392) did a commendable job of holding the second seeded Russian GM Vladimir Burmakin (2571) to a draw. There were a host of upset draws in the top few boards.

Curiously, some of the Indian players were pitted against each other. This too saw a couple of draws, with CM Abhimanyu Puranik (2328) holding IM Diptayan Ghosh (2523) and Aniruddha Deshpande (2268) holding IM Narayanan Srinath (2464). All of them moved to 1.5/2. IM MS Thejkumar (2467) however suffered a defeat in the hands of compatriot Prantik Roy (2292) to be left stranded at 1.0/2.

Hainan Danzhou 09: Wang Yue finishes clear first

Chinese GM Wang Yue (2716) finished a point clear of second placed GM Ni Hua (2703) to score 7.0/9 and win the tournament.

GM Krishnan Sasikiran (2640) finished solidly drawing GM Wang Yue and prior to that, beating Cuba’s GM Lazaro Batista (2669) in the penultimate round. He took his tally to 4.0/9.

Benasque 10: Adhiban beats Rodshtein, wins the tournament

The Benasque Open tournament came to a thrilling end when Indian GM B. Adhiban (2627) beat the top-seed Israeli GM Maxim Rodshtein (2678) with the black pieces. This allowed Adhiban to waltz ahead the overnight co-leaders to win the tournament by a half point margin, scoring 8.5/10.

Among other Indians, IM Shardul Gagare (2425) drew while GM Shyam Sundar M. (2492) won to move to 7.0/10 and 7.5/10 respectively.

Paracin 06: Four share lead

Four players shared the lead with 5.0/6 at the International Championship of Central Serbia, 2015. Erstwhile leader GM Nikola Sedlak could only draw his last two games to allow others to join him.

IM N. Srinath (2464) slumped to a loss due to which he remains stranded at 4.0/6. He is joined at the same score by Md. Nubairshah Shaikh (2423) who won his sixth round game.
